It\'s been serviced every 5k miles from new and is a very good car, but is still slow! I would love to find out it\'s current BHP and have put an induction kit on it, but didn\'t really notice any more power. What do you suggest for a man on a mission and a budget!?!? Many thanks Answer: Hi Steve - Not an easy one i'm afraid. Turbo Technics once did a turbo kit, but it wasn't the most successful of their usually excellent offerings. Personally, I'd just learn to live with it.
		Subject: Enging Tuner || New Question Sender's Name: Rob Question: Hey there just wandering i recently had an incident with my pulsar i came to a round about and when i put my foot down to go over round about at st marys in plympton it made an almighty backfire lost power and cut out i found out that the cams r turning and arent broke there is fuel going to injectors but found out the pipes leading to the oil catch tank were blocked does this sound like a piston may have gone as couldnt see any pipes on the front mounted intercooler which have come off :S and if so wat kinda price am i looking at for an engine rebuild? lol !! the car wont start since this happened everytime u turn it over it just backfires. Answer: Hi Rob - I would be inclined to check it out before assuming the engine has blown! If you'd like us to recover the car and take a look please let me know. 		Subject: Enging Tuner || New Question Sender's Name: dane Question: hi alan i have a 1997 subaru turbo 2000 i used to work at scorpion exhausts and prodrive came one day and said my dump valve will do more harm than good. something to do with the air flow meter is this true? Answer: To a certain extent, yes. If you have some types of vent to atmosphere dump valve, you can introduce pulses into the intake system. The car uses a mass air flow sensor which measures incoming air volume. If you cause any kind of leak between the throttle body and the MAF sensor, the resulting interruption of air flow can cause load measurement variations and poor running as a result. Subaru took the trouble to develop a perfectly good recirculating dump valve system, and I can't see any good reason to change it frankly.

This time I\'ve gone for an sti v2 v limited which is totally standard. Trouble is when under hard acceleration it\' seems to be flat then it coughs then pulls like you\'d expect it. It only does it when going up through the gears if you accelerate in say 4th or 5th it\'s pulls fine?? I know a rolling road session will be on the cards but is there anything obvious I can check myself?don\'t think it\'s had plugs recently so I will do those and check the coil packs for cracks at the same time.Once again thankyou for your help steve Answer: Hi Steve - You've answered your own question! That's the first place I'd go. Failing that, book it in for a dyno session and check over. In fact, do that anyway!
		Subject: Enging Tuner || New Question Sender's Name: rob Question: i have just brought a impreza wrx on 52 plate, but i dont know what bhp they run at,(uk model)if i get the engine remapped, what would it cost and get out of it Answer: Hi Rob - A remap using Ecutek software would cost £500 inc vat, including the licence. this would cover tuning work and dyno graphs. A decat downpipe would free up a little more power, and these are commonly done together. The downpipe fitted costs £276 inc vat. I'd expect to see 210 bhp from the standard car, and up to 260 bhp after tuning.
