hi i have a s2 escort rs turbo, its got a 1.8 zvh,stage 1 turbo,bleed valve and its chipped and set to 15psi,the problem is when its cold it runs really rough for the first 15 to 20 seconds then clears itself,its stopped boosting properly aswell, it will hit 10 psi in 1st and 2nd then 3rd 4th and 5th it hits 15psi but as soon as its up to normal running temp theres no boost at all,could this be the actuator? ive bought a -31 in the hope it is,cheers |

Hi Pete - These cars have very specific faults, as the various functions are all carried out by different parts of the management. There is a temp sensor, linked to the hydraulic pressure actuator via the ECU. It sounds like that part of the system needs checking out, they frequently have wiring faults. The boost is controlled by the Amal valve as standard, but they are often modified. Bleed valves make the boost wander all over the place, so it's no surprise! A decent electronic controller might be a good plan, such as the E boost street, we sell them for £200 plus vat. |
