Question: Impreza- hi,i popped in a few months ago,i will be looking to book in car in the fairly near future for ecutek remap, martyn quoted me 260-270 bhp and 280-290lb ft torque, can you requote these figures as i would be very dissapointed if we didnt reach target, car will have magnex mid section,h&s backbox and ninja sports cat.i also have a stainless steel up pipe, not fitted yet, would i gain from having this fitted aswell?
Answer: Every little helps! Telling it like it is, we would never GUARANTEE power figures. We would expect to see an amount based on previous experience of similar cars on our own dyno, but that's not the same as saying we would deliver figures irrespective of whether it was a good idea or not! Much depends on your car being in tip top shape, and all it takes is a fault somewhere, such as a higher than normal comp ratio, or a poor batch of fuel, and of course it's going to be marginal. What we can say is that whatever is available, we have the skill and knowledge to deliver it.

Answer: We like 3 hours for that job, so £150 plus vat, assuming we don't have any nasty broken studs.

Question: Thanks for the quick reply, the wear on the inside of the struts is fairly even, one side slightly more then the other. I just quickly went and checked the tyre pressure and all was fine. Probably a silly question now......how do I check to see if the wheel bearings are worn?
Answer: Jack it up and wiggle the wheel! There should be no appreciable up and down play.

Question: I currently have a Impreza Turbo 2000, its not lowered but I do believe I have STI struts all round (red in colour) but could be wrong. My dilemma is that I have 18\' PFF7 replica wheels and have done since ive owned the car (pcd 100 / 7.5 / et45) Ive never had any issued with rubbing apart from the past few months. I sometimes hear a scraping come knocking noise from the rear when taking a decent left or right hand bend at speed, If im having a spirited drive thats when the noise becomes apparent. When looking at the rear struts you can see that both tires have actually been rubbing the rear struts. I know this as the red paint has been worn away! When the car is stationary I can easily put my hand to the back of the strut between the tire and strut itself. A friend thinks my camber and wheel alignment could be out? ive tried putting spacers on but that didnt fix it so took them straight off. Any ideas as its really got me beat at the moment, im hoping you or martin might have some suggestion. Many Thanks Andy Baker
Answer: Is the wear the same on both sides? Check the wheel bearings, and tyre pressures. As the wheels move with the struts, that shouldn't happen!
