Alan Jeffery - Managing Director of Enginetuner Ltd

Born and bred in Devon (you can't take the Plymouth out of the boy!).

Alan started in the Motor Trade when he left school in 1966, completeing an apprenticeship at Turner's of Roborough. Alan left his tools behind for a while to explore other areas, settling for several years at Advance Motor Supplies, selling car parts to the trade, eventually moving to Auto Electrical at Plympton, working for the well known figure in the Mini World of Nolan Pitts.

Nolan raced Minis very successfully, and Alan derived a great deal of knowledge from this rich source. Alan gradually took over the running of Nolan's Sun rolling road, also using an engine dyno test cell. The work was varied, including all manner of road, rally, classic and competition cars. Alan assisted Nolan with a number of experimental projects for Janspeed, Piper Fuel Injection, Skip Brown Cars and David Vizard of CCC magazine and tuning manual fame.

Alan started his business in 1983, initially sharing premises with Piper RDA petrol injection, concentrating on rolling road tuning.

Moving to his present premises in 2007, Alan has expanded the business, and included engineering and management system repairs into the line up, alongside the garage work, special projects, classic car repair, performance tuning and fault finding.

Alan’s eldest son, Martyn, has used his partly inherited skills to good use, developing the Japanese performance tuning side of the business to the very high levels of achievement now a daily occurence at Enginetuner. We provide a very full service, ranging from minor repair up to complete rebuilds and preformance modification on virually every Japanese car.

We take a particular interest in Subaru, and have a proven track record of providing spectacular results when modifying and mapping, although our expertise also extends to the Mitsubishi Evo range, Skyline, Pulsar 200SX, and Celica and Supra also figure in the line up.
